About Brewer Housing Authority

Established in 1972, the Brewer Housing Authority owns and operates 154 public housing units, administers 133 Section 8 Vouchers for Housing & Urban Development and 25 to 30 Housing Choice Vouchers for other Public Housing Authorities, and is the management agent of the Dirigo School Apartments. The Housing Authority offers Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Family Self-Sufficiency Programs as well as offering the Housing Choice Voucher Program Homeownership Option.

Brewer is a city in Penobscot County, Maine. It is part of the Bangor, Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is named after its first settler, Colonel John Brewer. The population was 8,987 at the 2000 census.
Brewer is the sister city of Bangor, Maine. The two are on opposite sides of the Penobscot River and are connected by three bridges.


Mission Statement

The mission of the Housing Authority of the City of Brewer is to assist low-income families with decent, safe and affordable housing opportunities as they strive to achieve self-sufficiency and improve the quality of their lives. The Housing Authority is committed to operating in an efficient, ethical, and professional manner. The Housing Authority will create and maintain partnerships with its clients and appropriate community agencies in order to accomplish this mission.
